May 2008

A couple days ago, i got to see an old friend from high school, meet her fiance, and do an engagement session with them. We chose Main Street in Williamsville and were on the prowl for some new places to use. At one point, we thought we were going to get in trouble, but ended up with a bunch of questions and an audience! A little after that, we found this awesome historical house that was all run-down and abandoned looking ( I think I found my new favorite photo spot in the Buffalo area). Keith and Lauren looked great and were really good sports when it came to my crazy ideas! They will be getting married in the fall back in our lovely home town. Thanks guys, for a great session. Best of luck in your wedding planning!

AKA Mom and Dad-

My next stop on the blog was a series of photos I took on the boat of my mommy and daddy (and Sammy- the new pup). I am running out of things to say about these sessions, so enjoy!

For my next stop, I got the chance to see the sweetest little girl that I have ever met and fell instantly in love with her.  How could you not, with a face like this (and being so lovable and photogenic too)?

The next stop on my blog (not quite the next stop on my weekend- but I’ll back track later) was shot at my childhood playground. My parents owned a boat at Cedar Point Marina and I pretty much grew up there! It was great to get to see my family and friends (as well as my old summer home), even though the weather was a bit testy while we were there. It was actually really dark, and windy when Rob and I made it up to the Point. After dinner, the clouds cleared (just in time for a gorgeous sunset). This prompted me to grab my camera and some family friends that mentioned to my mom that they wanted photos on their boat. Thanks guys for being such good sports and being up for an impromptu photo shoot!

This past weekend kicked off with Jessica’s maternity session (well, if you don’t count our 3 1/2 hour drive into Cleveland). This was the first maternity session I shot, so I must admit that I was a bit scared; but once I started working with Jessica, any nerves I had melted away. Not only is Jessica gorgeous, but she is really fun to work with. Unfortunately, her husband could not join us for the session because he is currently overseas with the ARMY. At least he’ll get some great photos of his wife to make him feel a bit closer to home! Jessica’s baby girl will be due in early August. Good luck Jessica!

Hey guys! I just wanted to let everyone know that the site has undergone some major renovation over the past couple of weeks and if you haven’t seen it lately, you should check it out!

Just today, I added a new gallery on the wedding side of the site called “Day After”

This type of session is typically referred to as a trash the dress session, but I feel that the name is misleading and a turn off to some people. Most of the time, the dress is fine once it is cleaned (so you won’t be ruining a dress that you spent hundreds of dollars on). When I tell people that I did a trash the dress session, so many people asked me why I would want to do that. I want to know why you wouldn’t! I didn’t spend a few hundred dollars on a dress that I was only going to wear once and put away hoping that one day my child will want to embarrass herself by wearing my old fashioned dress that probably won’t fit her anyway. Besides, my dress came out needing only a couple minor fixes on the bustle and some marks on it that came out with Spray N Wash. My dress isn’t anymore trashed than my older sister’s (that was worn 5 years ago, had diet coke spilled on it, and still hasn’t made it to the dry cleaner’s)!

Anyway, with that being said- enjoy the new gallery and check back often (I have a lot more stuff to add)!

A few months ago, Rob and I met an awesome newly-married couple at a Super Bowl party my Brother-In-Law was hosting.  We discussed the possibility of doing a Day After Session sometime in the near future.  Yesterday, it finally happened.  I must say that it was well worth the wait.  Mark and Meghan were excellent models so we got some amazing photos on top of the good time we were having.

It did start out with some disappointment though.  The initial plan was to start the session on Saturday evening at a small carnival.  First, we were rained out for Saturday.  Then, we were able to reschedule for Monday and the carnival had disappeared by Monday morning!

So, we started up Main Street in Williamsville and it more than made up for the early disappointment.  There were some amazing backgrounds and some interesting reactions from spectators- one person working at a dog grooming shop will probably be talking about it for years to come (What can they expect by posting signs that say “Oh you dirty dog” and “all dogs must be leashed?”)!

Thank you Mark & Meghan for an awesome session!  We wish you many blessings in the years to come!

I finally got some free time to get out of the house and spend some time with a good friend of mine from church.  We started out meeting up for breakfast which turned into an all day thing that was so much fun!  After breakfast, we stopped to pick up some camera gear and ran off to Main St. in Williamsville to scout for the perfect backgrounds to use in an upcoming Day After Session (sometimes called Trash the Dress) since I had only driven through the area before.  We got out of the car, grabbed my camera, and at that exact moment it started to rain.  Normally, I would have been so upset, but we took it in stride (especially since I had just purchased rain guards for my camera) and got some great photos.  Mary was a great sport and my adorable new-ish heart print umbrella got a chance to make a statement with Mary.  Unfortunately, it kept raining so we had to push back the session, but now I have something to really look forward to on Monday!
