Engagement

Last weekend, I got the chance to do an engagement session with Don and Ellen.  The weather was quite iffey and Even while we shooting, I wasn’t sure the weather would hold out.  Thankfully, it did long enough to get some great shots.  I was really looking forward to getting the chance to work with Don and Ellen- right after meeting them, I liked them.  Ellen is a woman after my own heart- she loves sweeping landscapes, classic elegance, photography, Indian culture, and even working with people with MR/DD!  One thing I can say about her that I wish I could say about myself is that she knows exactly what she wants.  It’s clear in her relationship with Don that she has exactly what she wants and she wouldn’t give it up for anything (it’s also quite clear that he considers himself the luckiest man alive to be the one lucky enough to marry Ellen).

We started out by stopping by a set of train tracks around the corner from where Rob worksIMG_9516

After feeling a few sprinkles, we drove out the Japanese Gardens by the Historical Society

I think his expression in this photo says it all-IMG_9771a

There were so many wedding parties at the Japanese Gardens and the Art Museum, so we decided to
take the road less traveled and walk over by Shakespeare Hill.

This was another idea of Ellen’s…  Working with these two makes my job so easy!IMG_9832

Thank you guys for a great session!  Good luck with all your planning- and I can’t wait until the wedding (in January with a reception at the Pearl Street Brewery)!

This past weekend, I was finally able to catch up up with some good friends from the Buffalo Vineyard to get some engagement pictures.  I must admit that I still can’t get used to the idea, especially since I found out that they were engaged at the same time I found out that they got back together after a short break!  Being around Tom and Mary is so refreshing- their relationship is so loving and centered on God that there is no doubt they will have an awesome marriage.   We met at the Albright Knox Art Museum with the intent to swing by the Japanese Gardens and a small strip on Elmwood.  We never really made it past the art museum.  It was so fun to work with such good friends (made even more enjoyable that they love art and didn’t even raise an eyebrow about using the random sculptures instead of the elegant building).

Here are a few images to tide you over…

Poehnelt E0298The steps to the museum.  There really should be a statue there, so we fixed it!

Poehnelt E0361Evidence of the nasty weather we had earlier that day making itself useful…

Poehnelt E0551The only thing that could have made this sculpture more awesome is if it had a “V” and “E” too…

Poehnelt E0101Tom looking quite dashing…  (he was looking at Mary- I love how his face lights up when he looks at her)

Thanks for a great session!  Rob & I wish you all the best in everything to come!

This past weekend, I got to meet an awesome couple and take some pictures with my mom. Eddy and Carrie are so comfortable around each other and that really shows in their photos. We started the session at Salmon Dave’s and later moved into the metroparks. It was a bit cold out, but we had great time and got some great shots.

Thank you for a great session!  Good luck in all your planning.  Mom and I really look forward to your wedding.

The highlight of my weekend (besides my first wedding anniversary) was getting to work with Jessica and Rick. We had met earlier, and I liked them immediately. They are both fun and energetic. It really was a lot of fun shooting them! To make it a double-dose of fun, I got to break in my husband for his first-ever photo shoot with a camera in his hand (a big promotion from being my slave- err assistant)!

We met out at Hirum College for the shoot and thankfully, the weather held until just after the sun set (talk about perfect timing). Unfortunately, we had to cut the shoot short so we could get on the road, but we got some great shots anyway (still too many for me to narrow it down to my usual 5 or 6)!

Rick and Jessica will be getting married next month. Congratulations and best of luck in your planning!

A couple days ago, i got to see an old friend from high school, meet her fiance, and do an engagement session with them. We chose Main Street in Williamsville and were on the prowl for some new places to use. At one point, we thought we were going to get in trouble, but ended up with a bunch of questions and an audience! A little after that, we found this awesome historical house that was all run-down and abandoned looking ( I think I found my new favorite photo spot in the Buffalo area). Keith and Lauren looked great and were really good sports when it came to my crazy ideas! They will be getting married in the fall back in our lovely home town. Thanks guys, for a great session. Best of luck in your wedding planning!

Since we live so far apart and and time was running short before the wedding, we decided to do an engagement session with Joey and Elaine the day after the wedding. So, on our way back to Cleveland, we stopped in Columbus at Ohio State University for a short engagement session. The scenery was amazing- there were so many colors for this early in the spring! We got some awesome pictures (none of which I could justify taking the colors out of- so there are presently no black & white or sepia toned photos here) and had a great time! Thank you guys for giving Rachel and I the chance to work with you guys! Congratulations on the marriage! I hope you are having fun on your honeymoon!

Last Saturday, I met up with Sarah and Dave at Squire’s Castle on the East side of Cleveland. We had an awesome time, but had to cut the session short due to the cold. Thanks for a great session!

Over the weekend, Rob and I ended up in the Columbus area for Jason and Janelle’s engagement session. They were friends of a good friend of mine from college, and I must admit that I was pretty scared walking into the session. Once Janelle walked in, the whole story changed. I had an awesome time (as I hope they did). Even though it was absolutely freezing, we got some great outdoor pictures before we ran into the lodge. Best of luck with all the wedding plans!

A little while ago, I got to shoot an engagement session for some friends from Cleveland. It was a little cold; and a little rainy, but we had an amazing time shooting at Coe Lake in the Cleveland Metroparks. Despite the less than ideal weather conditions, we got some amazing photos and had lots of fun! I look forward to shooting their wedding in August. Best of luck with all your planning!
